University of Warwick Visitors Come to Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences for Multilevel Cooperation

The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences makes every endeavor to explore opportunities for cooperation and exchange with high-level universities around the world, in order to further enhance its international teaching team and international school evaluation level. Dr. Jonathan French, an official of overseas cooperation and exchange at the Centre for Applied Linguistics of the University of Warwick in the United Kingdom, paid a visit to the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences on November 29. Chen Hao, Deputy Dean of the Faculty, Liu Hongtao, Director of the Graduate Public English Teaching Department, Yan Shaoyang, Director of the College English Teaching Department, Wang Huimin, Deputy Director of the College of Foreign Languages, and Wu Yan, Director of the Office of Foreign Exchange, Cooperation, and Information Technology Construction, attended the meeting.

During the meeting, Chen Hao discussed the talent cultivation and disciplines and specialties programs, the faculty, and the basic demography of the students of the school, and specifically focused on the foreign language faculty members, participation of the Faculty’s undergraduate students in the short-term overseas exchange programs, as well as the data on the department’s students studying at The University of Warwick in the past three years. Dr. Jonathan French provided a detailed introduction to the ranking of the University of Warwick among UK higher education institutions, its cultural atmosphere, faculty training, and student exchange programs. Liu Hongtao, Yan Shaoyang and Wang Huimin discussed the goals and needs for the development of faculty in their respective departments, and what undergraduate students of the College of Foreign Languages look for in student exchange programs.

Subsequently, both sides conducted in-depth discussions of faculty training, joint student education, exchange programs, and future cooperation, and said they are open to the realization of any feasable programs. The Faculty looks forward to the exploration of further opportunities for domestic and international exchange and cooperation, and strives to achieve the goals of the 14thFive-Year Plan.
